Hit-and-run driver clips child in Clackamas County before dying in crash, injuring another driver

Authorities say the child’s sibling partially pulled them out of the car’s path, potentially saving their life. The driver may have been intoxicated.

CLACKAMAS, Ore. — A suspected hit-and-run driver is dead after nearly running down a child and crashing head-on into another driver on Thursday morning, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded around 8 a.m. to a reported hit-and-run on Southeast 82nd Drive near Southeast Tiffany Court in Clackamas. The sheriff's office said that an initial report indicated that a child had been struck on a sidewalk, and the driver had left the scene.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the child had been pulled out of the driver's path by an older sibling, but the car still went over the child's feet. The first child was treated at the scene but did not need to be taken to the hospital.

Shortly after arriving at the first call, deputies learned about a head-on crash on Southeast Jennifer Street near Southeast Evelyn Street, less than a mile away. Other deputies responded to the scene, finding a Kia Spectra that matched a description from the hit-and-run, as well as a Subaru Forester.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as 81-year-old Marie Day Bordeaux of Oregon City, had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspected hit-and-run driver, identified as 24-year-old Ilya Ilech Bosovik of Clackamas, was also taken to the hospital where he later died.

Clackamas County's Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians team, or CRAFT, is investigating the fatal crash. Investigators believe that Bosovik, the driver of the Kia, was under the influence of intoxicants.
