Portland woman opens up after death of husband, general manager at Bartini and Urban Fondue

Jacob Hartley died Feb. 10. His wife, Carly, said he was always willing to help others and his primary goal in life was to "make sure his family was taken care of."

A Portland woman is opening up after the death of her husband, Jacob Hartley. He was the general manager of Bartini and Urban Fondue in Portland.

His wife, Carly, said her husband died suddenly on Feb. 10. She said you could rely on him to help others when needed and that he always had a smile on his face. She said she and her children miss Jacob and are taking the loss of their husband and father day by day.

"His whole goal in life was to make sure his family was taken care of and his kids had everything they wanted," she said. "And he wanted to make sure that his kids always had the things they wanted because he didn't get that very much."

Jacob Hartley was part of the Urban Restaurant Group for more than 15 years.

"Jacob helped the group open and expand, spending time working and managing several locations, including Swank & Swine and BRIX Tavern," the group wrote in a statement posted to Instagram. "Kind-hearted to the core, he was easy to love and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him."

The Urban Restaurant Group organized a fundraiser to help the family. The GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $10,000 so far for the family.

Both Bartini and Urban Fondue posted to social media on Feb. 14, sharing a photo of Hartley with a link to the GoFundMe, saying it "lost a dear Urban Restaurant Group family member" and asked people to donate to help with funeral costs and support his wife and children "as they cope with this tragic loss."
