1 person dead in Southeast Portland crash

This is the third fatal crash in the City of Portland on Christmas Day, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One person has died in a car crash on the evening of Christmas Day in Southeast Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

At around 5:02 p.m. Portland police responded to reports of a car crash on Southeast 122nd Avenue just south of Southeast Powell Boulevard. When officers arrived they found one of the drivers with critical injuries who was taken to a nearby hospital. The driver later died due to their injuries, according to Portland police.

Portland police has not yet released the identify of the driver.  

Southeast 122nd Avenue will be blocked at Southeast Powell Boulevard for several hours as investigators process the scene and collect evidence. 

More information will be released when appropriate. This is the third fatal crash in the City of Portland on Christmas Day, according to Portland police.

The Major Crash Team is investigating, and Southeast 122nd Avenue was closed at Southeast Powell Boulevard for several hours after the crash.
