VANCOUVER, Wash. — Two people died and an unspecified number of people were injured in a crash Wednesday night involving a motorcycle and a vehicle near Vancouver, according to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened on Northeast 72nd Avenue near the intersection with Northeast 101st Street, which is just outside the Vancouver city limits. Witnesses called 911 just after 6 p.m. and reported that the motorcycle rider and vehicle occupants were all injured, according to the news release.

Crews from the Vancouver Fire Department, AMR and the sheriff's office arrived at the scene and found that the motorcycle rider and the vehicle driver had both died from their injuries. Several passengers from the vehicle — the news release does not specify how many — were taken to the hospital with possible minor injuries.

Family members of everyone involved in the crash have been notified, the sheriff's office said, but the news release did not include the names of anyone involved or any further details about the circumstances of the crash. The sheriff's office said its Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.

This a developing story and will be updated if more information becomes available.
