Man arrested for fatal shooting in Portland's Centennial neighborhood

Donald L. Burgett II, 48, has been charged with second-degree murder for fatally shooting a man in Portland's Centennial neighborhood.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a suspect Tuesday for the murder of a man shot dead in the Centennial neighborhood in December. 

Around 10:25 p.m. Dec. 1, officers responded to a report of a shooting and found an injured man, later identified as Michael McFadden, 41, of Portland. He was transported to the hospital, but died according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

On Monday, police arrested Donald L. Burgett II, 48, for McFadden's murder after executing a search warrant of his residence along Southeast 145th Avenue. Burgett is in custody and being charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of weapon, PPB said.

McFadden's family has been notified of the arrest, PPB said.
