Hillsboro police arrest accused kidnapper who was caught on doorbell camera grabbing woman

Police arrested the man early Tuesday morning. He is charged with kidnapping and his name has not been publicly released.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Officers arrested a man who was caught on a home's doorbell camera grabbing a woman and driving off with her, Hillsboro police said.

In video from around 10:48 p.m. Sunday, the woman can be seen pounding on the home's door and looking behind her. Then, a man comes running in from behind, grabbing ahold of the woman and carrying her to a truck. In the video, she's heard screaming, "Please help me!"

This occurred at a residence located near Southeast 32nd Avenue and East Main Street.

Hillsboro police received a report of the kidnapping early Monday morning, and investigators worked to identify the man and the woman from the video, which circulated on social media. Investigators identified the pair by early Tuesday morning and arrested the man. He has been charged with kidnapping, and his name has not been publicly released.

Hillsboro police said the woman is safe. They added the two knew each other and there is no danger to the public.

Marisol lives at the home that captured the video. She asked to only be identified by her first name for safety reasons. She said she didn't recognize either the man or the woman in the video.

"She looked scared," Marisol said. "In her voice, you could tell she was frantic, and she needed help, and the way she grabbed onto the door in the video when you see it, that is like, not normal."

In a news release, Hillsboro police thanked those who contacted them and provided tips in the investigation.
