Magnitude 3.0 earthquake hits east of Newport

The earthquake struck at 11:04 a.m.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A small earthquake was recorded about 25 miles east of Newport late Friday morning.

The magnitude 3.0 quake struck at 11:04 a.m. about 25 miles east of Newport and 40 miles west of Salem, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. The depth of the earthquake was 27 miles.

According to the PNSN website, people in Lincoln City and Salem reported feeling the tremor.
