66-year-old Vancouver woman dead after hit-and-run

The Clark County Sheriff's Office said that the family has been notified and that an investigation is ongoing.

A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle, whose driver immediately fled after the collision, police said. 

Police have identified the woman as 66-year-old Cynthia Clift of Vancouver; her cause of death was due to multiple blunt force trauma injuries as a result of being hit.

A witness called 911 around 12:44 a.m. about the collision on Northeast Highway 99, near the intersection with Northeast 82nd Street, in Vancouver. The pedestrian was found dead at the scene; the Clark County Sheriff's Office said that the pedestrian may have been attempting to cross the busy roadway, which has no crosswalk and is low lit. 

The Clark County Sheriff's Office said that the family has been notified and that an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Bethany Lau at bethany.lau@clark.wa.gov.
