VANCOUVER, Wash. — An SUV collided with a school bus carrying children in Vancouver on Wednesday morning, causing three people, including a minor, to be transported to a hospital for injuries.

Witnesses said that the SUV appeared to be running a red light at the intersection of Northeast 28th Street and 119th Avenue, when it struck the bus on the side, just after 9:10 a.m. The collision caused the SUV to catch on fire. A witness nearby grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the flames. When Vancouver Fire Department arrived, the fire had been fully put out.

Four people suffered minor injuries, police said. Three of them were transported to a hospital. All the children on the bus were assessed for injuries.

The intersection has been cleared and a traffic unit is completing an investigation.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
