Mother, daughter and other driver killed in head-on Brush Prarie accident

The drivers of both vehicles, two women, were killed, as well as a child.

BRUSH PRAIRIE, Wash. — Three people were killed and two children critically injured in a head-on crash on State Route 503 in Brush Prairie Friday afternoon.

The drivers of both vehicles, two women, were killed, as well as a child. The other children were taken to a Portland hospital.

One of the women was identified as 31-year-old Rosa Wilson, of Brush Prairie. Her daughter, Juniper Kate, 5, was also killed in the collision.

Wilson's other children, Elliot, 7, and Iona, 3, were taken to the hospital. Officials have updated the children's conditions as "critical" and "serious" but did not specify which child was in which condition.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support the remaining Wilson family members.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Kristi Byars, 41, was also killed in the crash.

The crash occurred around 4 p.m. north of 149th Street. The highway was closed for about five hours.

Washington State Patrol said one of the drivers was northbound and crossed into a southbound lane when she crashed into a minivan with a mother and three children inside.

The impact of the crash was so forceful that an engine of one of the vehicles landed in the middle of the highway.
