Portland's Grant HS wins national civics competition; Lincoln HS takes 3rd

The Grant High School Constitution Team placed first in the national competition.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Students from Portland's Grant High School took first place in a national civics competition.

The team from Portland's Lincoln High School brought home third place.

Teams competed against high school students from across the country as they displayed their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution in the competition, called 'We The People.' The 31st annual event took place at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia from April 27 to May 1.

More than 1,100 students from 52 schools demonstrated their understanding of government by participating in simulated congressional hearings.

The Pacific Northwest was well-represented in the finals. A group from Tahoma High School in Maple Valley, Washington earned 7th place overall. See the full results here.
