PORTLAND, Ore — Portland police officers reopened Interstate 84 in both directions at Northeast 68th Avenue on Tuesday evening after officers successfully negotiated with a person in crisis.

The police bureau’s Twitter account stated that the person ran onto the freeway. The person then ran up an embankment and perched on a fence.

Police spoke with the person, who eventually came down from an elevated position and left with medics.

Police also briefly closed nearby TriMet MAX train tracks and Northeast Halsey Street in both directions.
