PORTLAND, Ore. — ODOT is repaving ramps and replacing expansion joints along much of I-405.
The latest closure — the ramp from US-30 Eastbound to the Fremont Bridge (I-405 Northbound) has been extended a few more days until Thursday morning.
Road crews found additional concrete repairs were needed. A few rainy days also delayed some of the work says ODOT.
Before and after photos show something all of us will appreciate, the ruts are gone. The east end of the Fremont Bridge, specifically the ramp to I-5 northbound, is not currently scheduled to get the same needed facelift. Anyone that drives that section might encourage ODOT to take a look at that.
So whenever we get back to work we can expect a much smoother ride.
This particular ramp has been closed since April 17. It's now scheduled to open Thursday morning, May 7.
Meanwhile, ODOT is taking advantage of lower traffic volumes to do a continuous 8-day closure of another ramp.
The US-30 Eastbound ramp to Southbound I-405 will close Sunday evening.
Originally, that work was slated to take place over several weekends, but with traffic volumes cut in half since the start of Oregon's stay-at-home Order, ODOT decided to fast track that part of the project.
