Man killed in random shooting along Powell Boulevard had recently moved to Portland

Officers arrived near the intersection of Southeast 84th Avenue and Powell to find two people shot. A man was dead at the scene, while a woman was hospitalized.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One person is dead and another injured after a shooting along Powell Boulevard in Southeast Portland on April 15, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

On Monday, PPB identified the man killed as Marc-Leon Telean, 30, who recently moved to Portland from Haiti.

Officers responded just before 2:15 p.m. April 15, to a shooting call near Southeast 84th Avenue and Powell, the agency said. They arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds. Telean was declared dead at the scene. A woman was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.

PPB has not released the identity of the woman and have not said whether any suspects are in custody. However, detectives believe this was a random shooting and Telean did not know the person who shot him.
