Portland metro bars, deli robbed at gunpoint within 30 minutes of each other, police say

Three restaurants and bars were hit by an armed robber all within 30 minutes of each other in the Portland metro area, including Joe's Cellar and Dockside Saloon.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police are tracking three armed robberies that all happened within 30 minutes of each other in Northwest Portland and the Beaverton area on Thursday. Detectives are looking into whether the three robberies are connected to each other.

At 10:56 a.m. officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a bar and restaurant around the 1300 block of Northwest 21st Avenue, police said.

A bartender told KGW that it was Joe's Cellar, at 1332 Northwest 21st Ave. No one was hurt and the bar remains open. It is unknown how much was stolen.

Approximately five minutes later, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at Dockside Saloon & Restaurant, at 2047 Northwest Front Avenue. A manager told KGW that someone came in with a gun and took some money, the amount is unknown. No one was hurt and the restaurant also remains open.

"There were three large SUV cop cars circling the block and two of them got out and they were running around the Dockside front entrance, and they were chasing someone pretty avidly," said Andrew Bisceglia, who works nearby.

"They're great local people. they just changed owners, but the same staff have worked there for 20 years... they're definitely a great place to eat and hang out," Bisceglia added.

Then, about 20 minutes later, reports came in about an armed robbery at a deli along Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, which is about 7 miles away from Dockside Saloon. A worker nearby told KGW that it was Richard's Deli, at 6671 Southwest Beaverton Hilldale Highway.

No arrests have been reported.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more details as they emerge.
