UConn defeats Purdue 75-60 to win back-to-back national championships

Purdue's basketball season came to an end as the Boilermakers dropped a heartbreaker to UConn.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — It's finally here! Purdue men's basketball is playing in their first national championship game since 1969 Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:20 p.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. 

Both the Boilermakers and the Huskies enter the game as No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue's record stands at 34-4 while UConn's is 36-3.

Purdue has two-time and reigning AP Player of the Year Zach Edey as part of their starting five. So far this season, Edey is averaging a double-double with 24.9 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game. He's also averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game, a career high. 

Guards Braden Smith and Lance Jones are just behind Edey in scoring, both averaging around 12 points per game. Smith leads the team in assists with 7.5 per game as well as in steals with 1.6 per game.
