Report: Oregon State to name Beau Baldwin next football coach

Oregon State has reportedly decided who will be their next head football coach.

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State has reportedly decided who will be their next head football coach.

The university will hire California offensive coordinator and former Eastern Washington head coach Beau Baldwin, according to a report from FootballScoop.com.

The report says school officials plan to make the announcement after Saturday’s Civil War matchup against the Ducks.

Baldwin has been the offensive coordinator at California for one season. He coached Eastern Washington from 2008-2016 and compiled an 85-32 record. The Eagles reached the FCS playoffs quarterfinals in five of those seasons, including winning the national championship in 2010.

Baldwin led Eastern Washington to an upset win over ranked Oregon State in 2013. Vernon Adams, who ended up transferring to Oregon, was the quarterback for the Eagles that season.

In 2014, there was speculation Baldwin could take over the Beavers program after the departure of Mike Riley. Oregon State ended up hiring Gary Andersen, who resigned on Oct. 9 after going 7-23 in less than three seasons.

The Beavers are 1-10 this season and have yet to win a Pac-12 game. They play the Ducks at 4 p.m. Saturday in Eugene.
