Blazers fan warns of Craigslist ticket scam

PORTLAND, Ore -- If you are looking to buy Blazers tickets on Craigslist you will want to make sure you are not buying fake tickets.

PORTLAND, Ore -- If you are looking to buy Blazers tickets on Craigslist you will want to make sure you are not buying fake tickets.

“I would like people to be more cautious about this type of thing,” said Blazers fan Dillon Myers.

Myers started looking for tickets to Friday night’s game as soon as Monday night’s game concluded.

“Had a few cups of coffee in me, feeling good, let’s buy some Blazers tickets,” he said.

Myers did not need that caffeine. It took him only a few minutes to find a good deal on Craigslist. He found a guy selling seats in the 100 level for $100 each. Myers emailed the seller immediately.

“He emailed me back about an inquiry regarding Game 5 in Los Angeles,” said Myers. “That’s a strange mix up, getting Los Angeles and Portland, Game 5 and 6, mixed up.”

Afraid the deal was too good to be true, Myers dug a little deeper and found similar Craigslist ads. He found someone selling the same set of seats in several other NBA arenas. He feared it was a scam.

“I was bummed for myself,” said Myers. “I was also frustrated there are people out there that do this.”

Blazers executives encourage fans to buy tickets at the Rose Quarter Box Officer or on Trailblazers.com.

“It is the only way we can verify and guarantee the tickets,” said Senior Vice President of Business Operations Vincent Ircandia.

Myers will keep that in mind moving forward. He think it is too late to find tickets to Game 6.

“I may end up just watching it at home,” he said. “I have the good set up.”
