PORTLAND One of the most popular restaurants in Northwest Portland will be closing soon, after more than 20 years in business.

Wildwood, located at 1221 Northwest 21st Avenue, will serve its last meals on Tuesday.

Laura Roberts was one of many customers sad to see one of her favorite culinary experiences ending soon.

The food is excellent. We keep coming back so I m sad that we re losing this restaurant, she said.

James Beard award winner Cory Schreiber opened Wildwood in 1994. He named the restaurant after a popular trail in Forest Park and focused on the farm to fork food philosophy.

It brought all the local farms to the table. It focused all that here and so much talent has come through these doors that now expresses that theory throughout the restaurants in Portland, said head chef Dustin Clark.

General manager Cana Flug and Chef Clark told KGW they plan to take a short break and then open a new restaurant that will be just as hot as Wildwood.
