REXBURG, Idaho — Chad Daybell, the eastern Idaho man accused of killing his current wife's two children, along with his late wife, is expected to stand trial for those murders in April 2024.
1990 - Chad & Tammy Daybell marry. They would go on to have five children.
2015 - The Daybell family moves to Idaho from Utah.
Fall 2018 - Chad Daybell & Lori Vallow meet at a religious conference in St. George, Utah.
July 11, 2019 - Charles Vallow, Lori's fourth husband, is shot and killed by Lori's brother, Alex Cox in Arizona. Cox claims self-defense.
August 2019 - Lori, her two children, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and seven-year-old JJ Vallow, Alex, and her niece Melanie move to Rexburg, Idaho.
September 8, 2019 - Tylee is last seen alive near the entrance of Yellowstone National Park with JJ and Alex Cox.
September 9, 2019 - Phone records put Alex Cox on Chad’s property. Chad texts Tammy and says he shot a raccoon and buried it in the pet cemetery on their property.
September 24, 2019 - JJ Vallow last seen alive in Rexburg, Idaho.
October 9, 2019 - Tammy calls 911, says someone shot at her
October 19. 2019 - Tammy Daybell dies
November 5, 2019 - Chad & Lori marry in Hawaii
November 26, 2019 - Kay & Larry Woodcock order a welfare check on JJ Vallow.
December 11, 2019 - Tammy Daybell's body is exhumed.
December 12, 2019 - Alex Cox dies (natural causes)
December 20, 2019 - Police ask for the public's help locating Tylee and JJ.
January 3, 2020 - Police and FBI search on Chad’s property in eastern Idaho.
January 25, 2020 - Chad & Lori in Hawaii, served a court order to produce Tylee and JJ in five days
February 22, 2020 - Lori is arrested in Hawaii, charged with child desertion, obstructing an officer, contempt of court, and solicitation to commit a crime.
March 5, 2020 - Lori is extradited from Hawaii to Idaho.
March 6, 2020 - Lori makes her first court appearance in Idaho.
June 9, 2020 - JJ & Tylee's remains are found on Chad’s property in eastern Idaho. Chad is arrested.
May 24, 2021 - Fremont County grand jury indicts Lori & Chad
August 2021 - Prosecutors file to seek the death penalty against Lori & Chad
October 2021 - Judge Change of venue motion approved
March 2, 2023 - Judge rules Chad & Lori will have separate cases
March 21, 2023 - Death penalty taken off the table for Vallow
April 4, 2023 - Vallow's trial starts in Ada County
April 10, 2023 - Tammy’s cause of death was revealed as asphyxiation
April 1, 2024 - Chad's trial starts
Because Daybell is facing the death penalty, jury selection could take much longer than it did with Vallow's trial.
The trial is expected to last eight to ten weeks.
