WOODBURN, Ore. -- A band saw that fell off a trailer on southbound Interstate 5 Tuesday evening was hit by 10 vehicles, including a van that rolled several times, according to Oregon State Police.

About 9:30 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a large object on the freeway about two miles north of Woodburn. Within a minute, more calls came in of drivers striking the object.

The object was a red and black band saw about five feet long and two feet high. It fell off a trailer being towed by larger "personal style" pickup truck like a Ford F-250, police said.

Most of the vehicles that hit the saw had minor damage. Their occupants were not injured. The injured driver of the van was taken to a hospital.

The driver of the pickup stopped and ran toward the saw. He then ran back to the truck and drove away. There is no further description of him, police said.

Any witnesses or people with additional information should call the Oregon State Police at 800-452-7888.
