Firefighters extinguish 4 vehicle fires at Vancouver apartments

Residents at the Meadow Wood Apartments in Vancouver said there were multiple cars on fire and reported hearing loud explosions outside.

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Vancouver firefighters put out four vehicle fires at an apartment complex early Wednesday morning.

Vancouver Fire received calls shortly before 5 a.m. from residents at the Meadow Wood Apartments at 6811 Northeast 121st Avenue. Residents said there were multiple cars on fire and reported hearing loud explosions outside.

When firefighters arrived, four cars in a detached carport were on fire. The carport collapsed but the fire didn't spread to the apartments.

According to The Columbian, there were no reported injuries and 19 firefighters responded to the scene.

Vancouver Fire would not specify what caused the fires.
