WARRENTON, Ore. (AP) -- A bronze statue of Sacagawea stolen from Fort Clatsop at the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park last January has been replaced.

The new statue of the Shoshone woman who accompanied the Lewis and Clark expedition 200 years ago has been placed near the visitor center, where security systems can monitor it.

Shortly after the original statue was stolen, it was sold to a scrap metal dealer in Bend, leading to four arrests.

Marcus Bologna of Gearhart pleaded guilty in March to stealing and destroying the original statue. He was sentenced to 50 days in jail.

The replacement cost $25,000.
