Portland police: Man found dead in Hazelwood stabbing was related to suspect

Portland police found the man inside a home near Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 126th Avenue after responding to reports of a stabbing.

PORTLAND, Ore. — On Tuesday afternoon, a man was found dead inside a home in Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). 

He has been identified as Cecil Yahtin, 32, of Portland, according to a PBB news release Thursday. The city's medical examiner determined Yahtin died of homicide by gunshot and stab wounds.

Officers arrested Jarrod Leo Yahtin-Cloud, 27, as a suspect Wednesday morning. Detectives have determined the victim and suspect are cousins, PBB said Thursday.

Around 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, PPB responded to reports of a stabbing near Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 126th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside a home in the area.

The homicide unit responded to investigate due to suspicious circumstances at the scene, according to PPB.
