FLORENCE, Ore.-- A Waldport man was killed Sunday morning after a head-on crash on Highway 101 near milepost 174.
Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency crews responded to the report of a 2 vehicle, head-on crash 14 miles north of Florence. Officers say that 92 year old Eugene Weigant of Waldport was driving northbound on Hwy 101 in a 2008 Honda CRV, when he crossed the center line, hitting a 1994 Chevrolet Imperial Van driven by 23 year old Tanner Dickinson of Columbus, Ohio, head-on.
Weigant was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. Dickinson was treated and released for minor injuries.
One lane of Hwy. 101 was closed for about 4 hours during the investigation.
