Remains found in car pulled from Willamette River in Milwaukie

The car that was pulled from the river is associated with a missing persons case out of Portland from 2008.

MILWAUKIE, Ore — A dive team recovered a car in the Willamette River at the Jefferson Street Boat Ramp in Milwaukie. Remains were found inside the vehicle, Milwaukie Police said.

The group ‘Adventures with Purpose,’ dives to recover cars, boats and other items from waterways around the state. They were on the Willamette filming the recovery of a car for their YouTube channel when they discovered the remains and notified police.

The car that was pulled from the river is associated with a missing person case out of Portland from 2008 where the person was listed as missing and suicidal, officials said.

The car was approximately 400-yards offshore in about 85-feet of water.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner took the remains and will work to identify them.
