ALOHA, Ore. — Washington County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an altercation that led to shots being fired near a school Wednesday morning. No one was hurt.

The sheriff's office said the altercation happened near a home on Southwest 173rd Avenue. Aloha Huber Park Elementary School, which is located on the same street, was "placed in a secure status" (lockout) as a precautionary measure. Deputies were sent to the school for "additional security," the sheriff's office said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the school's website said the school was in "secure" status and asked parents to check Parentsquare for information about a controlled release. Aloha Huber Park Elementary School serves pre-Kindergarten students through the eighth grade.

Deputies have not provided any further details about the altercation, what led up to it and who was involved. The sheriff's office said it is in the preliminary stages of the investigation.
