Shots fired in NE Portland after confrontation over flower-picking, police say

Police believe the suspect fired four shots into the air while driving in front of the house in Northeast Portland.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Shots were fired along a Northeast Portland street minutes after a woman was asked to stop picking flowers from a stranger's yard and drove away Monday evening, police said.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. near Northeast 63rd Avenue and Hoyt Street.

A person who lives on 63rd Avenue told police a woman was picking purple iris flowers from their yard without permission. After being asked to stop, the woman drove away in a white, four-door hatchback.

About 25 minutes later, police said a woman driving a similar white hatchback starting shooting in front of the same house.

No one was hurt.

Police arrived and found four bullet casings in the street. They did not find any damage to homes or cars, leading investigators to believe the woman fired into the air.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Portland police.
