Police: Man arrested in Oregon City for fatally shooting wife

Oregon City Police, as well as Clackamas County authorities, are investigating.

OREGON CITY, Ore. — A man was arrested by Oregon City Police after he confessed to fatally shooting his wife. 

On Monday, Anthony Wessel came to the police department shortly before 1 p.m. and told police he'd shot his wife, Anna Wessel, inside the family's home on Squire Drive in Oregon City. Police located Anna Wessel inside the house and arrested her husband, 41, on murder charges. 

Anthony Wessel is currently in Clackamas County Jail, according to Oregon City Police. He faces a second-degree murder charge.

Oregon City Police detectives, as well as the Clackamas County district attorney's and medical examiner's offices, are investigating. They ask anyone with information to call the tip line at 503-905-3505 and reference case #23-023587.
