Police identify man shot and killed in Southeast Portland shooting

The shooting happened near Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 130th Avenue on May 21. The medical examiner determined Kelly Ankeny Jr. died of homicide.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Police have identified a man was shot and killed on May 21 in Southeast Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood.

Around 1:23 a.m., police officers responded to the shooting near Southeast Stark Street and Southeast 130th Avenue. They found a man, later identified as 39-year-old Kelly Ankeny Jr., with gunshot wounds and provided him with medical aid until paramedics arrived. Ankeny was taken to a hospital and died, Portland police said. 

The medical examiner determined Ankeny died from gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

Police have not arrested anyone in the case. Portland Police Homicide detectives are investigating.
