1 arrested after Longview man is stabbed to death in parking lot

The 48-year-old Brian Whatley was waiting in the parking lot to begin his work at Superior Tire when he was fatally stabbed.

LONGVIEW, Wash. — A Longview man is dead after being stabbed in a parking lot behind Superior Tire. 

According to the Longview Police Department, the 48-year-old Brian Whatley was waiting in the parking lot to begin his work at the tire shop when he was fatally stabbed. 

Detectives arrested a person of interest — Gilbert Platt, also from Longview — on Friday afternoon. Platt is being held in jail with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery charges.

The Longview Police Department said that Whatley and Platt knew each other before the stabbing, and the investigation is ongoing.
