SANDY, Ore. — A woman's body was dumped in a ditch near Camp Namanu in Sandy, and her husband has been arrested for the murder, police said.
The woman, 38-year-old Coral Rodriguez-Lorenzo, of Southeast Portland, had been listed as a missing person. Her husband, 45-year-old Martin Gallo-Gallardo, was brought in for questioning and, according to police, confessed to the murder.
Gallo-Gallardo was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on a murder charge and is being held without bail.
Meanwhile, a Gofundme campaign has been launched to help the woman's family cover the costs of her funeral.
Rodriguez-Lorenzo's body was found near the Sandy River on Southeast Camp Namanu Road by an employee of Camp Namanu at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said her body was dumped sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
An autopsy of the body was completed and the medical examiner determined the woman was a victim of homicidal violence.
"There's no chance this was suicide, no chance this was done by a vehicle, this was clearly homicidal violence," said Clackamas County Sgt. Brian Jensen.
Employees at Camp Namanu cooperated with investigators.
“Safety is our number one priority for those at camp, including renters, campers and our staff. We have been and will continue to work with the authorities as they investigate this incident. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the woman and her family," the camp staff said in a prepared statement.
