Bicyclist nearly stabbed by passenger in passing car in Washington County

Authorities were able to get a license plate number, but unfortunately, the new owner has not yet registered the car with the DMV.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore — A Hillsboro bicyclist says he was nearly stabbed by a passenger in a passing car while on a ride in rural Washington County on Saturday afternoon.

Hank Bosak said he was riding his bike on Northwest Hornecker Road near Northwest Leisy Road when a dark-colored 2001 Toyota Corolla came close to almost knocking him off his bike. Bosak went home and reviewed the video captured by the GoPro cameras mounted on his bicycle. When he slowed the video down, he noticed the passenger in the car was holding a knife out the window.

Bosak was shocked by what he saw and doesn't know what to make of it.

"Some people say the passenger was showing off to his friend, some people are trying to scare me," he said. "I don't know what their intent was, honestly. I can't read their minds. It sure doesn't settle with well with me."

Bosak notified the Washington County Sheriff's Office and they were able to get a license plate number. But, unfortunately, the car had been recently sold and the new owner has not registered the car with the DMV.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Deputy Kenneth Coon at 503-846-2700 and refer to case number 50-191740742.
