Teen who fled scene of crash that killed his girlfriend turns himself in, police say

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the vehicular homicide suspect fled the scene of the November crash and could not be located.

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — An 18-year-old accused of fleeing the scene of a deadly car crash that killed his girlfriend in Roy in November turned himself in Wednesday night, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department

The sheriff's department said deputies responded to a collision in the 33000 block of 8th Ave S. in Roy on Nov. 30, 2023. Deputies found a pink pickup truck in the ditch. The front passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. Court documents revealed the victim was dating the driver of the truck, identified as Nikolas Greinke.

The sheriff’s department said the truck had been trying to pass traffic at a high rate of speed and collided with another vehicle before losing control and crashing. Witnesses reported Greinke fled the scene following the crash.
