CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested for shooting another man in a leg during an attempted carjacking in February, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

On Feb 8, shortly before 1 a.m., CCSO responded to reports of a shooting at a gas station located at the intersection of Southeast Sunnyside Road and 122nd Avenue.

When deputies arrived, they found a man, who has not been identified, with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital nearby with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim said a man and two others tried to steal his car, and when he resisted, someone shot him.

On Tuesday, the 19-year-old Javier Raul Ceniceros was arrested in connection with the incident. Detectives said they believe Ceniceros shot the victim in the leg during the carjacking attempt.

Ceniceros was booked into the Clackamas County Jail and charged with first-degree robbery, first- and second-degree assault with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and fourth-degree assault, according to CCSO. He is also being held on outstanding warrants from Multnomah County, including attempt to elude a police officer, unlawful possession of a firearm and reckless endangering.

CCSO said that detectives also identified a second suspect, who is 17 years old. They are referring robbery and assault charges to the Clackamas County Juvenile Department. Detectives are also still working to identify the third person.
