Leif's auto shop gets ‘F' rating from Better Business Bureau

PORTLAND, Ore. – One of the biggest collision repair shops in the Northwest has received an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau.

PORTLAND, Ore. – One of the biggest collision repair shops in the Northwest has received an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau.

The BBB received 57 complaints about Leif’s Auto Collision Center in the past three years. That’s more than 10 percent of all complaints about Northwest auto repair companies.

Since January, BBB received 16 complaints about Leif’s. Complaints included accusations of unnecessarily long call-back times, poor repairs and extra miles added to vehicles.

“I inspected my vehicle and was extremely disappointed with the repair work that was done,” one complainant said. “My side mirror, which was hit and damaged was not repaired.”

“There is also a big question of 193 miles that were put on the car between my dropping it off and when the company did an oil change,” another complainant said.

A spokesman for Leif’s said the company does not yet have a comment about the rating, but Leif’s works on 130,000 vehicles a year and the complaints make up a small percentage of vehicles worked on.

BBB recommended that consumers check to make sure auto repair shops are BBB Accredited and read reviews prior to taking vehicles to a shop. The agency also said consumers should request an estimate and get it in writing before the work is done.
