Clark County Dive Rescue team holds first open-water training of the season

The team had to cancel April training due to stay-at-home orders.

VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark County Dive Rescue team held its first open-water training of the season this weekend. The team of eight volunteers provides search and rescue diving services to Clark County and other counties in Washington.

Saturday's training was at Klineline Pond in Vancouver. The rescue team had to cancel April's training due to stay-at-home orders and most of the parks being closed.

Divers said while social distancing underwater isn't much of an issue, on the surface they are adopting new procedures like face coverings, social distancing and sterilization of equipment.

The team hopes to hold their training once a month moving forward.

You can join the Clark County Rescue Dive team and you don't have to be a trained diver. They  have positions for anyone who has a desire to help out.
