Portland's old Washington High transformed into Schoolhouse that Rocks

Portland's historic Washington High has been transformed into a music and food venue called Revolution Hall.
Historic Washington High School's auditorium has been turned into a state-of-the-art concert venue called Revolution Hall.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- This schoolhouse rocks.

Inside Washington High School's locker-lined hallways, grab a beer and take it up to the rooftop deck.

Once there, you'll get a magnificent view of the city and Mt. Hood that not so many years ago would get you detention. And when you're tired of that, enter the auditorium tricked out with a brand new audio and light system and acoustics to rival any of the city's top venues.

Welcome to Revolution Hall.

"We want to have a world class performing arts center. And I think we built it," said co-owner Kevin Cradock.

Washington High School hasn't had a student since it graduated its last class in 1981. Decades and millions of dollars later, the building is re-born this month as a venue designed to cater to mid-size acts that fall between Mississippi Studios' intimate setting and the much larger Crystal Ballroom.
