Former WSU safety Jaden Hicks drafted 133rd overall by the Kansas City Chiefs

Hicks led the Cougs in solo tackles and interceptions last season.

PULLMAN, Wash. — The wait is over for former WSU star safety Jaden Hicks. He was drafted 133rd overall in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hicks was a stalwart of the Cougar defense the past two seasons. He played in every game and tallied 155 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 13 passes defended, three interceptions, a forced fumble and two touchdowns.

He was an All-Pac-12 honorable mention this past season when he led the Cougs in solo tackles with 49 and tied for the team lead in interceptions with two.

Hicks becomes just the fifth Coug drafted since Gardner Minshew was taken in the sixth round of the 2019 Draft.

He will be fondly remembered at WSU for several highlight reel plays including an interception of new Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in this year's Apple Cup and a forced fumble and bone rattling hit against Wisconsin early this season at Gesa Field.
