Missing St. Helens man found dead from apparent suicide

Styers' daughter was the last known person to see him Monday night at bedtime.

ST. HELENS, Ore. – A St. Helens man who was reported missing earlier this week was found dead on Friday.

St. Helens police believe Charles Daniel Styers, 48, committed suicide.

Styers' vehicle was found on Thursday near the Scappoose Vernonia Highway, at the entrance to Scaponia Park. People told officers the vehicle, a black Ford Escape, had been there for a couple of days. Styers' body was found Friday a couple miles away from the car, police said.

Police began searching for Styers when he did not show up at work in Hillsboro on the morning of Feb. 27. He was a single father and lived with his 13-year-old daughter. Styers' daughter was the last known person to see him Monday night at bedtime.
