John Tierney joined KGW in May of 2014 to lead the station's investigative and political reporting teams. John has worked at several TV stations and a newspaper in Oregon over the last decade and is passionate about covering news in his home state.
John is a Portland native. He graduated from Sunset High School before heading south to the University of Oregon to study print and broadcast journalism.
Outside of work, John likes to travel, ride his road bike, play golf and cook. He took three months away from the grind of the newsroom in early 2014 to live in Cape Town, South Africa, where he worked as a freelance writer and kept a travel blog.
