SE Portland Walmart launches Scan & Go App

PORTLAND, Ore. - A southeast Portland Walmart is the first Walmart in the Northwest to launch the “Scan & Go” app. The goal of the app is to make your shopping experience faster, and save you money at the same time.

Scan & Go at the Walmart Supercenter at 4200 SE 82nd Ave allows you to scan items into your phone, or on a device provided to you by the store, and skip the checkout line.

All you have to do is download the Scan & Go app to your phone, and link your payment information (credit card) or use the Scan & Go devices available in the store. Scan the item you want to buy, then place the item in your cart.

As you shop you’ll see the running total of the items in your cart. Then you can easily check out and pay in the app, scan a barcode on the check-out screen to get your receipt, and show the receipt on your phone to an associate on the way out.

“Our customers have made it clear: They want more ways to save time and money,” said Store Manager Michael Rainey.

“Scan & Go takes the in-store experience to a new level. It’s the latest example of Walmart’s commitment to create conveniences that allow our customers to shop however, whenever, and wherever they want.”

Scan & Go is in 120 stores across the nation. Walmart says that nearly 80% of people who try it use it again within 90 days.
