Plane crashes in The Dalles, starting small grass fire

The only occupant, the pilot, did not need medical treatment at the scene, according to Wasco County Sheriff's Office.

WASCO COUNTY, Ore. — A small plane crash Thursday evening started a small brush fire in The Dalles, near Adventist Health. The only occupant, the pilot, had minor injuries. 

The Wasco County Sheriff's Office reported that the plane, a Cessna 152, had been traveling from the Redmond Municipal Airport to the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport. Wasco County crews, along with Mid-Columbia Fire Rescue and The Dalles Police Department, responded.

A grass fire started on the hill above The Dalles Hospital after to small plane crash.

The crash caused a small brush fire that burned 2.5 acres, according to Columbia Gorge Fire and Rescue. The plane's transmission line from the Bonneville Power Administration was also damaged.
