Molalla police surprise drivers with $100 bills

Instead of handing out speeding tickets, police in Molalla spread holiday cheer to surprised drivers in the form of $100 bills.

MOLALLA, Ore. -- Instead of handing out speeding tickets, police in Molalla spread holiday cheer to surprised drivers in the form of $100 bills.

The department said an anonymous local business gave police cash to hand out to community members. Officers then pulled over drivers and walked into businesses, and handed people an envelope from “Secret Santa” with a holiday message and a crisp $100 bill.

The Molalla Police Department posted a few of the videos on its Facebook page.

“Oh my freaking goodness,” one mother named Stacy said, when an officer handed her an envelope while she was sitting in her car with her son. “I’m nine months pregnant!”

“With opportunities like these, it would be difficult to measure who feels more joy, the officer giving the gift or the unsuspecting recipient,” said Chief Rod Lucich.
