Washington County patrol officer tests positive for COVID-19

A Washington County patrol officer has tested positive for COVID-19.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified on April 1 that one of its patrol officers tested positive for COVID-19.

The officer is self-quarantining and will not return to work until they are cleared by a physician. People who worked closely with the deputy have been advised of the potential exposure.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has taken precautions to prepare for the possible spread of COVID-19. You can keep up with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office COVID-19 updates here. 

"As is our community, we are impacted in significant ways by this pandemic. We continue to work closely with Washington County Public Health and the Oregon Health Authority to protect staff, our community, and the adults in custody. I wish a speedy recovery for our staff member. I send my thanks and admiration to all first responders and healthcare professionals who are working heroically against this pandemic, and pray for their safety as they work to protect us," said Sheriff Pat Garrett in an email.
