1 more death, 47 new coronavirus cases reported in Oregon

There is now a total of 736 COVID-19 cases in Oregon.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Another person in Oregon has died from COVID-19, the 19th death in the state connected to the virus, health officials announced Wednesday.

The person who died was a 70-year-old woman in Multnomah County. She had underlying health conditions.

The Oregon Health Authority also reported 47 new coronavirus cases. The people who tested positive live in the following counties:

  • Benton: 1
  • Clackamas: 6
  • Deschutes: 3
  • Douglas: 1
  • Jackson: 1
  • Lane: 2
  • Lincoln: 1
  • Marion: 10
  • Multnomah: 18
  • Washington: 3
  • Yamhill: 1

There is now a total of 736 COVID-19 cases in Oregon. There were 690 cases as of Tuesday, but one of the previously counted Hood River County cases was actually a case in Washington state, health officials said. Latest numbers from the Oregon Health Authority

People vulnerable to complications should follow federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations to stay home as much as possible and avoid gatherings. Every resident should take these basic steps to protect those most at risk:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home if you feel ill.
