2 coaches arrested in child sex sting

A Putnam High School assistant softball coach and Banks youth soccer coach were arrested earlier this month in a Vancouver police sting targeting child sex offenders.

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A Putnam High School assistant softball coach and Banks youth soccer coach were arrested earlier this month in a Vancouver police sting targeting child sex offenders.

Jeffrey J. Graham, 51, of Milwaukie, was accused of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Sean Dotson, 49, of Forest Grove was accused of communication with a minor for immoral purposes and with third-degree attempted rape of a child.

A probable cause document outlines how city, county and federal police created a Craiglist ad under the "casual encounter" section. The ad, placed about 11 p.m. on January 12th, described a girl skipping school who wished to have a casual encounter.

About 50 minutes later someone responded. The person offered to park naked near an address suggested by the teen girl and perform a sex act.

Two days later, Graham drove up to a previously agreed location, in a vehicle that matched the description he sent earlier, the probable cause docoment said.

The document said Graham later was read his Miranda rights. He then admitted to arranging the meeting with a 14-year-old girl.

Putnam officials said Graham has resigned and is barred from campus.

"We don't know if we have any victims at Putnam but very very thankful for the Vancouver police," said athletic director Jesse Eveland.

Another person responded about 40 minutes after the ad was placed, police said.

He started exchanging text messages and then arranged to meet for sex on January 14th. He said he would bring a condom as a precaution.

He asked for a nude photo of the girl to allay concerns the encounter might be a police sting. No photo was sent, but Dotson showed anyway at the predetermined location, the document said.

After being read his Miranda rights, Dotson admitted to arranging the meeting with the teen. He also had a condom in his pocket, investigators said.

The Oregonian reports that Dotson coached a girls under-14 team in Banks. He no longer coaches in the league.V
