Police ID victims in Gresham shooting

The victims were identified Sunday morning as 32-year-old John Summers of Portland and 47-year-old Mary Whitmore of Gresham. The victims are recovering at home.

GRESHAM, Ore. – Two people were shot in Gresham Saturday morning.

The victims were identified Sunday morning as 32-year-old John Summers of Portland and 47-year-old Mary Whitmore of Gresham. The victims are recovering at home.

Police are still investigating the shooting.

Gresham police first received reports of gunshots heard in the area of Northwest Burnside and Southeast 199th Avenue on Saturday morning. Another caller reported seeing a dark sedan chasing another car.

Minutes later, police were called to the 1100 block of Northwest 15th Street about two people shot. Officers found a man and woman suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Police say the victims were shot by an unknown person in a dark sedan.
