Portland got snow but a bigger storm is coming; why some health care workers are declining the vaccine; vaccine appointments at convention center canceled

Much of Portland area receives 1-2 inches of snow; more snow, freezing rain coming Friday night

The first of two winter storm fronts delivered freezing rain, sleet and snow in the Portland metro area Thursday night. KGW meteorologist Rod Hill said much of the metro area received 1-2 inches of snow overnight. A second system is expected to arrive Friday night and bring even more snow to the area. In fact, Hill said the Portland metro area could get up to 8 more inches of snow. Farther south, in the Salem area, ice is the bigger concern. The mid-valley could see freezing rain and/or sleet Friday night, enough to bring down trees and power lines. Hill said ice accumulations could reach one inch. READ MORE

Many health care workers turned down their COVID vaccine. Here's why

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show 62% of nursing home workers nationwide haven't been vaccinated for COVID-19. Many Portland hospital employees have also declined the vaccine. READ MORE

Vaccinations scheduled for Friday, Saturday canceled at Oregon Convention Center amid snowstorm

A Legacy Health spokesman said anyone who had a vaccine appointment at the convention center Friday or Saturday will be contacted to have it rescheduled. All of the vaccinations scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been canceled because of the storm. READ MORE
