PORTLAND, Ore. -- Stay hydrated and find yourself some shade Friday afternoon, as the high temperature could reach 93 degrees, according to KGW's Brian Brennan.
Thursday hit 94 degrees, and that was the first time Portland has hit 90 since summer officially started. The last time it was that hot was early June. By contrast, July 2015 saw a sweltering 12 90-degree days.
But the previous four Julys combined only saw a total of 11 90-degree days. In fact, July of 2011 and 2012 didn't even hit 90. So this year's cooler July is closer to normal.
TriMet advised riders that MAX trains may slow down due to the heat. Expect delays once the temperature gets to 90 or higher.
If you're already dreading the heat, don't fret; cooler air returns over the weekend, with highs in the 80s Saturday and the upper 70s Sunday.
And at least we're not in Minnesota, where the heat's got black bears seeking solace in kiddie pools.
Or in Phoenix, where the high Friday will hit 113.
